My Method

I want you to have a great time with me on our shoot. After all, I may never see you again and all I'll have to cherish is the photos I take of you. In fact, if you don't have a great time on our shoot then I'll just punch myself in the face.

I can shoot in my studio with backgrounds, costumes, props, scenery, but I also like to shoot in a more natural settings (inside + outside). I may use a few tools to enhance the lighting or manipulate it to my liking, but the point is we get to hang out outside in the sun, in dark alleyways, on random street corners, really wherever we can capture a great moment.

I want a photo to immediately convey who you are or the character you want to be casted as. If you want people to think you're sweet, I'll show it, if you want to look like a villain, I'll show it.

I'm obsessed with lighting. The lighting sets the mood and will bring out your best features, kind of like the special lights they use when you're trying on a dress to make you look your best (not that I wear dresses).

I have no preset location for our shoot, I choose based on the person I'm photographing. Maybe you have some place you'd love to take a picture at, but I'll find some great spots too. It's not about convenience for me, I love an adventure. Feel free to bring your friends to hang out.

My shoots will last between a few hours to a full day, I don't really like to limit our time.

You may want to consider a professional makeup artist + hair stylist for your shoot. Having a professional hair + makeup artist will make you look great. I have amazing hair + makeup artists available for your shoot.

OK OK, I'll get to the point. The process is simple. We have a phone call. I get to know you. I meet you somewhere. Shoot some pictures. I make you do 1000 situps (just kidding). We drive or walk around and shoot some more pictures. That night or same day I upload the pictures to your own private gallery online. You can share that with your family + friends if you want. You tell me your favorites. I tell you my favorites. You pick your favorites. I retouch them in a really awesome way. I upload those to your gallery where you have to access to all the pictures from the shoot plus the retouched photos. Life is good. You start telling all your friends how much fun you had on our shoot and how great I am because I made YOU look great. Your friends tell you to shut up because they're sick of you always talking about Dustin Hassard Photography. Then they hire me. Then you and your friends spend the rest of your lives just talking about me.
